How do you unlock a Blackjack 2?

I recently bought a used blackjack 2 from a private seller via ebay to replace my old, broken att phone(i did not have a warranty, so this was the cheaper alternative)The seller did not specify if the att blackjack was "unlocked".If i just simply insert my att sim card, will it work?If not, how do you "unlock" the phone?
